Do you have experience as an operational police officer?

CLET offers recognition of prior learning (RPL) for former and current police to help with internal promotion or transition from service.

Nationally recognised qualifications help to bridge the gap with the civilian world and better inform employers about the experience you hold from policing. Further, they can add to your resume to support promotion within the job or movement to different operational areas.

CLET offers the following qualification groups for former and current police RPL assessment:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Crime and Justice
  • Security and Risk Management
  • Work Health and Safety
  • Business
  • Investigations
  • Community Services
  • Emergency Management

What evidence will I need to provide?

When you complete the CLET RPL Assessment Form you will have the opportunity at the end to upload your evidence. For police, we require at a minimum:

  • Service record from your current or former police organisation
  • If you cannot access your service record, your certificate of service or similar
  • If you separated from service more than 5 years ago, your resume or similar information to advise what you have been doing since leaving
  • Any other documentation you wish us to see and include in the assessment

This documentation will get the process started and we will contact you if we need anything further. This will depend on the qualifications requested.

What will it cost me?

The assessment process is free, so you can explore your options without cost. If you choose to proceed to the award of any qualification for which you are eligible via full RPL, costs will be payable. However, there is no obligation to proceed, so you can visit all options without cost.
